Project of the Month - April 2022

All in one thanks to the learning tower with chalkboard, chair, steps, table …

A learning tower is convenient for every family. This way children can learn from their parents independently by simply climbing onto the safe stool and watching along. Anna from Barcelona devised a version of the learning tower which allows it to be transformed into a chalkboard, chair, table, etc. She wanted to protect her creations with a childproof wood treatment. Considering the Food Contact Compliance and Toy Safety certificates, Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C was the logical choice!

 How it started

Anna and her husband have always been drawn to wood, and in 2017 they started working with it themselves. They taught themselves the craft and started their own furniture business, Liken Wood. When their daughter Ona was born in 2020, they wanted to include her in their love of wood. Anna started designing specific furniture for her daughter and came up with her convenient learning tower, the Cyathea.

The learning tower: child-friendly, ecological & convenient

Everything about the learning tower is child-friendly. There are no sharp corners, only rounded edges. The tower does not contain any screws and is only made from wooden parts. There is an anti-slip protection and an adjustable safety bar. Even the finishing product Oil Plus 2C is safe for children. In fact, the oil is Food Contact Compliant and Toy Safe!

In addition, the Cyathea is also ecological. After all, only FSC certified wood is used. This wood comes from forests with responsible and sustainable management. The protective product is once again important here. Rubio Monocoat's wood oil contains 0% VOC, has a very low consumption and is produced as ecologically as possible.

The learning tower can be transformed into a table for drawing or doing crafts and a handy ladder for brushing teeth in the bathroom or eating a snack at the sink, for example. The safety bar can be personalised with the child's name and can be removed once they are older to make climbing easier. The tower is very easy to assemble and comes in different colours. You can choose between Natural, Super White or Oak.

Tip of the month: which colour stimulates my child?

Anna also sells the Cyathea learning tower in an untreated version. This way you can choose which one suits your child or your interior best. The great thing about the Oil Plus 2C is that Rubio Monocoat, as King of Colours, offers more than 40 colours. So there is bound to be one that perfectly matches your child's wishes! But which colour is the most stimulating?

For playgrounds or toys, it is generally accepted that it is best to choose bright colours. After all, they stimulate many things, such as the creativity, emotions and subconscious of your child. Some nice colours of Oil Plus 2C that fit with this are Ruby Red and Pomegranate Pink. Would you like to give your creativity free rein? Then you can also choose to treat the tower in several colours. If you choose a bright basic colour, a neutral colour is ideal as a combination! That way the bright colours stand out better. Ideas here are the calm colours Teal Blue or Midnight Indigo or neutral colours Smoke and Mist.
