The museum that ‘screams’ Rubio Monocoat

With 400 000 works in its collection, the National Museum of Art in Oslo is Norway’s largest collection of art, architecture and design. But not just world-famous paintings such as “The Scream” by Edvard Munch are worth admiring in the museum. After all, the floors treated with Rubio Monocoat are also worth a look!

13 000 m² wooden floors

The National Museum was established in 2003 in Oslo and opened a new building in 2022. This phenomenal new building is situated near the harbor and is adjacent to the Nobel Peace Centre. To make it even more impressive, it is even bigger than the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Guggenheim in Bilbao. Among its world-famous art, the museum displays the painting “The Scream” by Edvard Munch.

Taking all this into account, it was quite an honour to be chosen to protect the wooden floors in the museum. Rubio Monocoat’s Oil Plus 2C was used to treat the no less than 13 000 m² floors. Most of the floors got the colour Natural (9 000 m²), and about 4 000 m² was protected with the colour Pure. Cleaning is done with Universal Soap.

Tip of the month: treating large floors

The floors in the museum are spacious exhibition areas. When treating large surfaces such as these, it is best to work in zones of 5 - 10 m². Make sure that you treat the edges first. Floors this big also require several containers of Oil Plus 2C. Be sure to mix the different containers and stir them well so you get an even result everywhere.
